Increase the time the 16-25 Railcard is valid

I am writing this email with regard to the 16-25 Railcard. As a student, I already incur a lot of debt due to the top up fees. University life is very expensive, especially if you live out, despite the credit crunch and I feel the government are adding increased financial pressure where public transport is concerned. I do not benefit from the oyster discount as my university is on national rail. I believe that the 16-25 is a good deal because I do save money in the long run, however, the time limitation makes this inconvenient. This year the price of the 16-25 card has increased and the time the discount becomes valid has been changed from 9.30 (which was already too late) to 10am! Why is this? Are we not classed as 16-25 before 10am? Most schools, colleges and universities start classes before 10am so why does the discount begin so late? Moving the time the discount begins back by an hour or an hour and a half is one small way the government can relieve a small amount if financial pressure on the young people in this country. As it stands we are paying more and getting less. I know I am just one of many young people who have this concern but I felt strongly that it was an issue I should speak out about rather than sit back and allow it to annoy me. If this topic please sign and pass the message to as many people as possible so it is not just dismissed but something is actually done about it.
